Scrap copper, bought at daily-market rates

Copper is the highest-value common metal we buy. Brothers pays daily-market rates for clean copper, mixed copper, copper-bearing cable and radiators. Bring it to our south-east Melbourne yard, or book a free pickup. We grade it, quote it, and weigh it in front of you.

Copper grades we buy

Copper Grades We Buy Main New Image

Clean copper (bright and bare)

Bright wire and clean tube with no fittings, no paint, no solder. Pays the top copper rate.

Mixed copper (number two)

Tarnished, painted or soldered copper, copper with light attachments. Pays a notch below clean.

Copper pipe

Plumbing offcuts and old hot water lines. Strip the brass fittings for a better split rate.

Copper-bearing cable

Insulated cable with a copper core. Paid on recoverable copper content and grade. See cables and wire.

Radiators

Copper and brass radiators from older cars and HVAC. Paid as their own grade.

How to prep copper for a better rate

You do not have to prep anything. But a clean split pays more. If you can separate bright copper from painted or soldered copper, we pay each at its own rate rather than blending down to mixed. We will split it on the bench with you if you want to see the difference.

What not to bring as copper

Brass taps and fittings are brass, not copper, and pay the brass rate. Heavily soldered or contaminated copper is graded down. We tell you on the bench why a piece grades where it does. No surprises.
